This is a flaw in the docs, sigh. You need to use "ipsec auto snt add" first, because the Pluto daemon doesn't know about the "snt" connection until explicitly told about it. Pluto does *not* automatically read the whole ipsec-auto file, at startup or at any other time. (No, this isn't just carelessness on our part -- there are reasons -- although perhaps a better approach would be advisable. And of course, as usual, the docs need improving.)
