linux-ipsec: SuSE problems

Trying to bring up Jan 26 mainline snapshot on SuSE 5.3 with a 2.0.36 kernel. Obvious problems so far:

One of the makes fails because it cannot create /etc/sysconfig/ipsec Manually creating /etc/sysconfig fixes this & make then succeeds.

After install completes, ipsec setup start fails because it cannot find /etc/sysconfig/network.
touch /etc/sysconfig/network fixes this.

Now attempts to manually start a connection produce core dumps. I've no idea if this is SuSE-related. /var/log/messages and barf output will be in my next message.
