Hi Sam,

Firstly, thanks so very much for such a comprehensive reply. It's very much appreciated.

> There are two solutions to this problem, which I can discuss in a moment, but

I intended on doing so anyways, ie:

192.168.5.0/24 (default gateway is 192.168.5.1/24) |

192.168.5.1/32 (vpnleft) 192.168.0.3/32 (default gateway is |
192.168.0.1/32, is this configured in ipsec.conf or |
just in the kernel's routing table?)
|
192.168.0.1/32 (NAT Router)

> Two solutions:

I'm just testing at the moment for a real-life situation, but my routers are basic ADSL/Cable ones? I don't know anything about ESP, only UDP and TCP - will these routers allow this kind of traffic?

Do you need help?X

I'm also going to have to make a 56K dialup VPN connection some point soon. I am considering using a FreeSCO or LRP as a dialup router, do you have any reccomendations with this? Again, this will be on a dynamic IP and will use a dyndns like hostname.

> See section 4.4 the Installation and Configuration guide for the X.509 patch

I already downloaded and installed the pre-patched X.509 ver of FreeS/WAN if this helps?

I lile the sound of option 2 equally to 1 at this point, I'm not afraid to recompile the kernel to get the results I need provided there is sufficient documentation.

Again, thanks for all your help.

Alistair J. Ross
