I've never tried to do this, but I have an idea that I think will work:

  1. identify the registry location that holds the IP address the wizard is asking for. An easy way to do this, would be to set it to something like 123.123.123.123, and then search for it.
  2. Get kixtart (www.kixtart.org) and install it on the RW laptops. KixTart is a very useful free scripting language for windows. I use it all the time. It has the nice feature of being able to read/write registry data.
  3. Write a connection script in kix that:
  4. pings the dns name
  5. parses out the ip address
  6. writes that ip to the registry
  7. does any policy sync if necessary
  8. fires up the IPSec connection.

Now, after the internet connection has been made, the RW runs this script. You can likely have the script do the entire connection, internet and all.

Good luck,

Subject: [Users] Win2k IPSec Roadwarrior ---> DynDNS FreeS/WAN security
gateway

Hi there!

I´ve setup a FreeS/WAN security gateway under a DSL connection with
dynamic IP. I´ve setup a dynamic DNS client on that SG so that the
roadwarriors can find it by its name.
I´ve tested a linux/freeswan roadwarrior and works just fine, now I need
to setup a win2k roadwarrior to connect this SG, and following this
instructions:
http://jixen.tripod.com/win2k-screen.html

I tried to setup IPSec policies on windows, BUT! I have a problem: the
win2k configuration ask me for the Security Gateway´s IP only and not the
name, and since I´m using a dyn-dns service I´m needing to provide win2k
the name only.
Do you know how to solve this problem??

Thanks in advance!
