I can't currently reproduce that error. It works even without the               
leftid/rightid entries. From memory it was "Cannot ... without knowing          
peer IP address". Now it looks to me like the leftcert and rightcert            
entries must be defined  or I will get this error (even though I use PSK        
at the moment).

Yes. I found time to update both machines to 1.99. No change.
