[Users] IPv6 + IPSec

I've download the kernel+freeswan from IABG but my question is. Can you use it with another kernel? I've installed the latest version of SUSE(8.2) and it seems to include some IPv6-IPSec funcionalities but they also say it's in a development phase, is that right or I'm messing myself. I also have read a IPv6 interoperability test between FreeBSD and Linux-FreeSWAN, does anyone know what they have used? Thanks in advance,
