If

  ipsec auto --status

does not list your connection then you have a syntax error in your ipsec.conf file. A possible reason could be the double occurrence of the @ character in the left/rightid parameter. Either define a username

  leftid=sonics@csie.ntu.edu.tw

or a hostname

  leftid=@sonics.csie.ntu.edu.tw
