It is difficult to do a diagnosis if you don't post your ipsec.conf file. But I suspect that you wrote

   leftrsasigkey=GW-AU-cert.pem

instead of

   leftcert=GW-AU-cert.pem

if leftcert is present then leftrsasigkey does not have to be defined explicitely.
