We're experiencing the the following error during a compilation:

***ERRORS DETECTED in out.kbuild (examine file for details): make[4]: *** No rule to make target
`/usr/src/linux-2.4.20-30.9/drivers/pci/devlist.h', needed by `names.o'. Stop.

make[3]: *** [first_rule] Error 2
make[2]: *** [_subdir_pci] Error 2
make[1]: *** [_dir_drivers] Error 2
make[4]: *** [ipsec_alg_static.o] Error 1
make[3]: *** [alg/ipsec_alg_static.o] Error 2
make[2]: *** [_modsubdir_ipsec] Error 2

We're currently trying to compile super-freeswarn 1.99.8 under RedHat 9.0 using kernel 2.4.20-30.9. Compilation/installation of the kernel by itself works fine. However, everytime we perform the super-freeswan compilation we get the above.

To compile/install the kernel we did the following:

  • cp ./configs/kernel-2.4.20-i686.conf .config
  • make oldconfig
  • make dep
  • make clean
  • make bzImage
  • make modules
  • make moduls_install
  • make install
  • verify grub.conf and /boot updates
  • reboot

To compile super-freeswan:

  • get super-freeswan-1.99.8.tar.gz from www.freeswan.ca
  • cd /usr/src
  • tar xvzf super-freeswan-1.99.8.tar.gz
  • cd super-freeswan-1.99.8
  • make oldgo
  • compilation fails every @#$#%@ time.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
