Hrm, you shouldn't need to change compilation options, ever. The suite /should/ test relevant features and skip tests that are irrelevant. If you find a case that doesn't then please give details or submit a bug report.

Are you running the mysql test suite as user root? We discourage running anything as root, so it's probably not tested very well. I would expect a better error message, though, if it always fails.

http://coolsurf.com/mysql-test-log/bootstrap.log gives HTTP error 500, fwiw.

"./mtr" is how I usually run it. I add "--mem" if I'm in a hurry and have plenty of free RAM.
