You say you "copied" the modules to site-packages. Do you mean to say that you used some python modules from within the MaxDB installation directory? If so, that may be the problem; I believe that these modules are "internal" to the system and may not be readily usable by other clients.

There are "public" packages available for download at <http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/maxdb/7.6.00.html#Python>.
