Didn't find the MySQL include dir

I've installed MySQL on my Kubuntu by running: $sudo apt-get install mysql

mysql version is:
mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.38, for pc-linux-gnu (i486) using readline 5.2

I got also MySQL++ sources and ran ./configure script.

  1. the first problem was that in the /usr/lib directory were follow symlinks:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 2007-09-05 22:01 libmysqlclient_r.so.15 -> libmysqlclient_r.so.15.0.0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1973044 2007-04-03 14:09 libmysqlclient_r.so.15.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 2007-09-05 22:01 libmysqlclient.so.15 -> libmysqlclient.so.15.0.0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1964756 2007-04-03 14:09 libmysqlclient.so.15.0.0

and ./configure couldn't find the mysqlclient library. I've fixed it by adding follow links in the /usr/lib

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 2007-09-09 10:32 libmysqlclient_r.so -> libmysqlclient_r.so.15.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 2007-09-09 10:31 libmysqlclient.so -> libmysqlclient.so.15.0.0

The question: is it OK to fix it by this way?

2. the second problem during ./configure run is:

Do you need help?X

checking for MySQL include directory... configure: error: Didn't find the MySQL include dir in '/usr/include/mysql /usr/local/include/mysql /usr/local/mysql/include/mysql /opt/mysql/include/mysql'

I searched for mysql.h to locate mysql include directory, but did't find nothing.

The question: how to get MySQL include files into my machine?

Thank you in advance. Received on Sun Sep 9 04:34:20 2007
