If you mean, how to install softare, the best way is to use the software available on the Ubuntu repositories. Just click on the menu "Aplications" and then on "Add/Remove"

If the wifi card aint supported by Ubuntu, then I think you will need to use NDISWrapper.

I do install KDE on Ubuntu.
Other times, I just install the needed libs, so I can have Konqueror, kmail, etc
