Film Gimp Continues Hollywood Takeover

• By Robin.Rowe - Film Gimp has recently been adopted by ComputerCafe, the fourth motion picture studio to use it in making feature films. Film Gimp, a sophisticated image retouching program designed to manipulate high dynamic range 35mm film images, is a collaborative open source project that branched from GIMP in 1998. After years behind the scenes in Hollywood, Film Gimp had its public launch on SourceForge on July 4, 2002.

    hysterion writes "Mozillazine reports: Starting this year, the State of     Geneva will mail all tax forms with a CD which includes OOo and Mozilla     (1.2.1, translated). The tax software -- for Windows, Mac and Linux --     is shared with another state and replaces an Excel sheet.     The Recording Industry Association of America and the Motion Picture     Association of America are sending a six-page brochure this week to     Fortune 1000 corporations with suggested policies _ including a sample     memo to workers warning them against using company computers to     download songs and movies. The brochure also carries a clear threat:     Stop workers from stealing copyrighted materials or be sued.

Text service warns of attacks

     Londoners are getting a text message service that will tell them what     to do if terrorists attack the capital.
