Quartz is an enterprise-class Job Scheduler for use in stand-alone and full-blown J2EE Applications. Quartz is very light-weight, highy scalable, easy to use within your own applications, and full of features. Aside from being a maintenance release of Quartz, version 1.0.3 contains several new features, and a complete re-write of the JDBC-based job store. Version 1.0.3 went through several "beta" releases, so it should be very solid. Existing users: please be sure to read the release notes / change list, as there are a few small hurdles to get over to move to this release. The users who have contributed code, bug reports, fixes, and feature suggestions are greatly appreciated! AntRunner 1.6 released
AntRunner is an OpenTool for JBuilder 4 to 8 to use Ant within the IDE. The 1.6 release contains feature enhancements and bug fixes. This release was coming earlier as I thought. AntRunner 1.5 was not running on JBuilder 8. Thus I had to make some changes to support this release of JBuilder. I had not much time to test this release. Hope it works fine, nevertheless. Main changes are: - support of spaces in target names - own action group for antrunner - refactoring of communication with ANT using sockets - own loggers are now possible - corrected typo in resources that caused a MessageFormatException - removed a trailing file string in the filename in a message

Nintendo To Sell Old Consoles To China?
drfishy writes "An [0]interview with Nintendo president Satoru Iwata on
IGN hints at the possibility of Nintendo entering the Chinese market
with their products soon. The most curious part of the interview is
that Satoru Iwata says Nintendo is considering releasing older
generation hardware to combat piracy, could this mean the big N is
going to start making Super Nintendos again? Will there be new games?
How would this fight piracy?"

What Lawyers Can Learn From Manga
[0]jedigeek links to this article from Lawrence Lessig, writing "[1]This article explains the interesting phenomenon of dojinshi, and why dojinshi helps fuel the production of original manga. From a western-perspective, dojinshi breaks copyright laws, but, according to the article's author: 'The law is a rough-edged tool. It was not crafted by geniuses of economics.' In a time when laws like the DMCA exist and are being exploited, this is certainly food for thought." Links

Best Practices for Secure Remote Admin?
What are best practices for securely administering a Slash site over the Web? I'm trying to use SSL for the purpose, which would be ideal, but I'm meeting with only limited success. There appears to be a bug in the user login code that keeps flipping the browser back to the non-SSL index. Is it just me, or am I barking up the wrong administrative tree?
