TuxTyping 1.5.0 released
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=277737

After over a year of development with no releases, we are pleased to     present Tux Typing 2 "Preview" release. Most of the internals have been     rewritten with a focus on extensibility and internationalization.     Creating a language pack is now as simple as creating a file for     translations (lang.po file), maybe finding a font [1], setting up how     the keyboard maps to the characters [2], and finally creating some word     lists. TuxTyping is an educational typing tutorial game for children     starring Tux, the Linux Penguin. It is graphical and requires SDL. It     is free software copyrighted under the Gnu GPL. There is a new style of     game "Comet Zap" and the start of tutor components with the new     "Practice" mode. We really look forward to getting feedback about what     parents/teachers/students/kids think about the new work. This release     has a few rough edges, but we feel that it is time to let the world see     what has been happening with Tux Typing. We have forums, mailing lists,     and most importantly windows and linux builds are available at     http://tuxtype.sf.net We are already hard at work at 1.5.1 and hope to     have it released soon making it even easier for translators and users!     Thanks, Jesse Andrews - jdandr2@uky.edu Calvin Arndt -     calarndt@tux4kids.net Notes: [1] We are using a font that has support     for many languages (Dansk, English, French, Spanish, ...) So if the     included font works with your language, you don't need to find a new     font. [2] for instance in the default (English) language pack, we set     up the game so if the student presses 'A' or 'a' it both works for "A".

Tcllib 1.4.0 released
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=275116

tcllib is a Tcl-only library of standard routines for Tcl (no compiling     required). This release is a minor version change which fixes numerous     bugs and provides a lot of enhancements as well. Tcllib 1.4 release

notes ======================== Hello World, welcome to Tcllib 1.4. This
release is a minor version change which fixes numerous bugs and     provides a lot of enhancements as well. Availability ------------ The     released distributions can be downloaded from     http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=12883&release_id=     157517 Available are gzipped, zipped, and bzipped tarballs, a starkit,     and a starpack for windows. Installation ------------ * For the starkit     and starpack just execute the file and a GUI based installer will pop     up. Fill out the paths, then run the installation. * For the tarballs     unpack them in some directory /foo, then run the file     "/foo/installer.tcl". This will invoke the same installer used in the     starkit and starpack. Note: While the installer will open up a GUI by     default (and if possible), a command line based installation is     provided too. Run the installer with the option "-help" to see what is     available. Known problems -------------- * When using Tcllib 1.4 on a     true 64bit platform, like Linux/Alpha, or Linux/IA-64 the usage of Tcl     8.4.x is strongly recommended. * Package mime, SourceForge Tcllib Bug     #447037 A special case of the above. This problem affects only people     which are using Tcl and Mime on a true 64-bit system. The currently     recommended fix for this problem is to upgrade to Tcl version 8.4. This     version has extended 64 bit support and the bug does not appear     anymore. The problem could have been generally solved by requiring the     use of Tcl 8.4 for this package. We decided against this solution as it     would force a large number of unaffected users to upgrade their Tcl     interpreter for no reason. See
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=447037&group_id=12883&a     tid=112883 for additional information. Acknowledgments ---------------     Many thanks to Arjen Markus Brent Welch Brett Schwarz Dan Kuchler David     N. Welton Don Porter Donal K. Fellows Eric Melski Gerald Lester     Johannes-Heinrich Vogeler Jeff Hobbs Joe English Kevin Kenny Melissa     Chawla Miguel Sofer Pat Thoyts Peter MacDonald Reinhard Max Ross Mohn     Sandeep Tamhankar Scott Redman Scott Stanton Steffen Traeger Steve Ball     and all the people who submitted bug reports and patches. For 1.4 This has been changed completely. Beyond the placement of all doctools functionality into packages it was also greatly expanded. A new application based on this expanded functionality, the doctools processor, "dtp" is also available, as part of the 'tclapps' module in the 'tcllib' project at SourceForge. Is the Seeking of Lost Skills/Arts a Hacking Analog? http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/05/22/2247200

[0]bigattichouse asks: "Having just finished my first batch of     home-brew beer, I've been thinking about my attraction to 'lost arts',     and collecting books on 'how to do stuff'. Some I try, some I just     read: metalsmithing, sewing, baking bread, making soap, knot tying,     brewing beer, woodcarving, yogurt and cheese.. there are so many skills     'lost' in the modern 'american' lifestyle... but I find my fellows tend     to have books on these subjects lying around, too. LFT 2.2
http://freshmeat.net/releases/123677/

LFT (formerly FFT) is an alternative traceroute program for displaying     the route packets take to an IP network host/socket. Unlike Van     Jacobson's traceroute, which is available on almost every platform     today, LFT uses TCP in order to elicit ICMP TIME_EXCEEDEDs or other IP     route data. As a result, LFT often executes much faster and sees behind     some configurations of firewalls. Its stateful engine lets the user     know when it encounters a stateful firewall or other interesting     conditions. It also does AS number and netblock name lookups en route.     Most importantly, LFT can trace specific TCP-based protocol routes (not     just IP) to assist network engineers with manual fault isolation of     network application problems.

mooix 1.0rc1
http://freshmeat.net/releases/123689/

Mooix is a multiuser object-oriented dimension (a MOO) layered over top     of your favorite Unix system. To the user, mooix looks much like any     other MOO. To the programmer, mooix objects look like directories full     of files: executable methods, properties, and links to other objects.     MOOs have historically had poor support for such things as real     programming languages, encrypted logins, multitasking, and editors.     Mooix inherits all of these things from the Unix system it is based on.     At the same time, it's not wedded too tightly to Unix (e.g., it     implements its own permissions system that is much more suited to a MOO     environment than the historical Unix system).
