You will still need to be a registered sourceforge     user to submit feature requests and bugs.     http://isql.sourceforge.net/feedback.php * There is now a simple     tutorial system that I have in place there are total of 9 tutorials     Using the J2EE adapter :

Paper Capable Of Playing Videos Developed http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/09/25/009208

Can't find what you're looking for?X

Makarand writes "Nature has posted an article describing [0]paper     capable of displaying video using rearrangeable electronic ink, being     produced by [1]Philips Research Labs (in the Netherlands). The     paper-display draws power from a lightweight battery, and displays data     stored in a portable chip. The display consists of pixels containing a     drop of colored ink that can spread over a reflective white background     under electrical control to create colors. With fast switching times     and lower switching voltages, these paper-displays are capable of     displaying video images."

Spam And Alston - From Luddite To Pin-Up? http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/09/24/148225

[0]templeton069 writes "Alston (the Australian Communications Minister)     has been lambasted as the 'world's greatest Luddite' for a long time     but the [1]spam bill introduced to [2]the Australian Parliament last     week seems to have struck an [3]almost magical balance with everyone     from the Internet Industry Association, the Coalition Against Bulk     Unsolicited Email and the Direct Marketing Association, suggesting that     it is about as good as it gets. So what's the story -- can you go from     Luddite to pin-up in one step? And more importantly, does the     legislation provide a template for other jurisdictions to implement     low-pain anti-spam legislation?"

Diebold Audit Released, BlackBoxVoting.Org Shut Down http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/09/25/012242

[0]Chris Soghoian writes "The State of Maryland requested an audit of     the Diebold electronic voting system by SAIC, after a report released     by Johns Hopkins University and Rice Researchers (disclaimer: I'm one     of Dr Rubin's students) [1]noted several security issues. A condensed,     from 200 to 40 pages, and censored version of the report has [2]been     released online (PDF link). The report notes that 'SAIC has identified     several high-risk vulnerabilities that, if exploited, could have     significant impact upon the AccuVote-TS voting system operation.'"     However, Diebold says Maryland are [3]moving forward with installation     with "new security features" included, and elsewhere, Badgerman points     out "Diebold [4] has shut down blackboxvoting.org, apparently with     copyright claims made to their ISP. But you can still go to the     [5]blackboxvoting.com site."

Recommendations for RPN Calculators?
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/09/24/217234

[0]sg3000 asks: "My trusty old [1]HP 48S graphing calculator, that     served me since engineering school, seems to be giving up the ghost. I     haven't used it in a few years, but recently I put new batteries in it.     It works, but it makes a loud static/white noise sound when it's on.     The noise is not as noticeable when I hold it, but when I set it down     on a hard surface, it's really loud. Then it sucks the batteries down     incredibly fast (I put new batteries in it, and two days later, they     were drained). Any suggestions on what I should buy as a replacement?" Links

New Anti-Swap CDs Hit Shelves
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/09/24/1956206

[0]floppy ears writes "Watch out for the new [1]Anthony Hamilton CD,     Coming From Where I'm From. [2]The CD has two sets of tracks: one set     of "encrypted" songs that can be handled by CD players but cannot be     ripped, and a duplicate set of tracks in WMA format. In CD players, the     disc plays normally (in theory). When put into a computer, the disc     installs software to keep the music secure, but allows you to copy some     or all of the Windows Media tracks to your hard drive. DKMS 0.37.04
http://freshmeat.net/releases/136859/

DKMS (Dynamic Kernel Module Support) is a framework where device driver     source can reside outside the kernel source tree so that it is very     easy to rebuild modules as you upgrade kernels. This allows Linux     vendors to provide driver drops without having to wait for new kernel     releases (as a stopgap before the code can make it back into the     kernel), while also taking out the guesswork for customers attempting     to recompile modules for new kernels. For veteran Linux users it also     provides some advantages since a separate framework for driver drops     will remove kernel releases as a blocking mechanism for distributing     code.
