Spam Catchers Block Latest Crypto-Gram
An anonymous reader writes "Bruce Schneier sent out a note about
SpamAssassin and possibly other spam filters blocking his excellent
Crypto-Gram newsletter. Fortunately you can get [0]it here (early no
less!)." Schneier's email reads, in part "Tomorrow I will be sending
out the February CRYPTO-GRAM, as I do on the 15th of every month. In
the process of creating this month's Crypto-Gram, I discovered that
SpamAssassin thinks that this issue is spam, probably because of
certain links and descriptions of scams in the text. I have anecdotal
evidence that other spam filters block Crypto-Gram as well. ... I'd
apologize for the inconvenience, but I'm not sure what I could do to
make it less so -- I don't intend to alter my content to accommodate
spam filters."

An Extensive History of Anime
[0]Ninja Master Gara writes "While it is a bit dated, [1]Right Stuf has
a [2]fascinating set of in depth history of anime in Japan and the west
and follows the development of both cultures, including landmark series
from [3]the 60s, [4]the 70s, [5]the 80s and [6]beyond, the origins of
today's major anime release companies, and commentary on various
aspects of the industry and culture. While it is labelled an
'Introduction to Anime', it serves as a much more interesting look back
for long time anime fans. Right Stuf also has a great [7]timeline of

Keyboard Layouts for the 21st Century?
[0]jules asks: "Trying to do some programming on an iBook the other day brought to my attention the fact that despite the constant improvements to the design of computer hardware and software, the keyboards we use are still a throwback to the early 1980s. I mean - my Mac doesn't have room for page up/down or home/end keys, but it devotes a whole key to a sort of double-S shape that I will never press. And my PC keyboards all waste plastic on a backwards-apostrophe key and a scroll-lock (+ LED!), while functions that you use all the time, such as switching between windows, cut/copy/paste, back/forwards, undo/redo etc, all have to double-up with other keys.. Have any organizations actually tried to re-invent the keyboard recently? (..not counting the manufacturers who stick a few 'multimedia' keys along the top for consumer PCs). Would this be doomed to failure because of the tens of thousands of legacy apps that expect things to be the way they are? What sort of keys would you include in your fantasy keyboard layout?" It's not just the keys on your keyboard that are important, it's also how you arrange them. What kind of keyboard arrangements might we see in the future? Speak Up On FCC VoIP Regulation
[0]jeffpulver writes "Speak now or forever hold your peace. The FCC
will decide whether or not to regulate Internet Telephony in the U.S.
over the next several months. On February 5th I filed a petition with
the FCC on behalf of [1]Free World Dialup, asking for a Declaratory
Ruling that states that Broadband Internet Telephony which doesn't
touch the public switched telephone network (PSTN) should not be ruled
as either "Telecommunications" or as a "Telecommunications Service" as
defined by the Telecom Act of 1996. On February 14th the FCC put the
pulver.com petition out for public comment. The public has until March
14th to respond." This is an important issue -- read on below for some
more information on the background and significance of the present
petition.

Crack Windows XP With... Windows 2000
An anonymous reader writes "According to [0]this story seen on [1]Brian's Buzz on Windows, access to a Windows 2000 CD is all that is needed to bypass all (well, most) Windows XP security features. An attacker can boot up XP and start the Windows 2000 Recovery Console which allows them to operate as any user, even Administrator, without requiring them to enter a password. This method even allows someone to copy files to removable media, something which normally the Administrator can't even do in the Recovery Console." Skinnarland, but his sabotage over several years repeatedly thwarted
Nazi plans to exploit Norway's heavy water production capabilities for
their atomic bomb research plans. Skinnerland recently passed away in

of the raids on the production facilities can be found [2]on pafko and
[3]Stephen's Study Room. So many 'what if?'s and [4]suspicions have
swirled around the Nazi atomic bomb program that this man's efforts
seem crystal clear for a change."

70-Year-Old Prank Revealed
Saturday in the [0]San Francisco Chronicle a [1]story about a prank that the [2]Clampers (E Clampus Vitus, man!) pulled on UC Berkeley was featured. In short the Clampers faked a [3]brass plaque that intimated that Sir Francis Drake landed in [4]Marin 462 years ago. The Clampers are an organization known for, well, drinking and horsing around, but this kind of prank, one that spans 70 years (or more than 400, depending on your point of view) is epic and inspiring.
