with the research plan for the March Stellar Countdown [2]project. The
dedicated use of the Arecibo Telescope to revisit [3]these spikes,
pulses, and steady signals, focused on 166 star candidates. Those 166
were pruned from the five billion signals that have been found since
1999, depending on the signal's persistence, closeness to a known star,
and frequency. The next step is particularly fascinating, if a signal
appears to have increased since the first observation put that star on
the checklist."

cfish asks: "Recently, I was told by a manager at a major monitor maker that CRTs are phasing out. I have a very weak eye and I read text at 1024x768 on a 21" monitor, sitting 2 feet away. Each alphabet is about 1/4" tall. What makes me panic is the fact that LCDs have fixed resolution and they are simply too small for me to read icons and widget text, like Microsoft's. This is a great chance for Linux to get a head start in a certain market: older folks and those who have eye strain problems. Generally speaking, not many people can read Microsoft's widget text on a 150dpi display, which may explain why no one buys them even that they are available. Imagine how frustrating it could be for medical display (x-rays), cad, image editing to have a high resolution realistic image but cannot read the menu and text. If someone can come up with a Window manager to beat MS on 200dpi displays, no doubt this will capture a strong following in image related applications. I have read about these debates 5 years ago. What has been done about it?"

To me, it's a miracle how every tiny article on OSNews.com, or any other tech-site, ends up in people shouting all sorts of nonsense at each other like "Linux is gonna bring back Elvis", "Windows shot president Kennedy", "Linux kept the cold war cold" or "Bill Gates wants to buy the moon and charge people for looking at it". at SourceForge. Rilke CMS provides easy content management for
non-geeks. It allows you to easily publish a weblog, update a public
website, or collaborate on a private Intranet site. This release is a
feature and bug fix release. Rilke CMS 0.8.4 has two new themes (Lax
and Highlite), dates next to post titles in the All Posts page, a
better looking Log-In page, better compatibility with Mozilla 1.5
alpha, a new way to preview themes (without needing pre-captured

Turck MMCache is a PHP Accelerator, Optimizer, Encoder and Dynamic Content Cache. It increases performance of PHP scripts by caching them in compiled state, so that the overhead of compiling is almost completely eliminated. Also it uses some optimizations for speed up of PHP scripts execution. Turck MMCache typically reduces server load and increases the speed of your PHP code by 1-10 times. It has been tested with PHP 4.1.0 - 4.3.2 under Linux and Windows with Apache 1.3 and 2.0. Optimizer for ZE2 was implemented. Optimization of extension_loaded() was fixed for encoded scripts. Optimization of was fixed. "mmcache.compress" configuration directive was added to enable or disable cached content compression. "mmcache_password.php" and "encoder.php" now can work from web and from command line. Proper "__FILE__" handling in encoded files was implemented. PHP constant MMCACHE_VERSION was introduced.

A new version of JFreeChart has been released. The focus of this release is the support for multiple range axes (instead of the current limit of 2 range axes per chart). Some other minor enhancements and bug fixes are also included. JFreeChart is a class library, written in Java, for generating charts. Utilising the Java2D APIs, it currently supports bar charts, pie charts, line charts, XY-plots and time series plots.
