[0]Telstra, Australia's largest Telco, is switching to Linux and open
source on the desktop. Their pilot has been quite successful, and
improved stability has been noticed. On trial are Star Office, Gnome,
Mozilla and Wyse. Spending AUD$1.5 Billion a year on IT, means Telstra
using Open Source is a massive boost to Open Source developers and
support professionals. Not mentioned in the Article is that Telstra
also just Dumped IBM Global Services, and will be running IT in-house
again! Telstra will be hiring Linux-savvy people I think..."

the balloon altitude world record. [2]Qinetiq 1 is scheduled to launch
tomorrow, 2nd September 2003, from the coast of Cornwall, UK, and aims
to reach 132,000 feet or 25 miles in a flight that could last 12 hours.
The balloon is so big (1,250 feet tall) that it should be visible from
most of the UK, Ireland and Western France as it climbs. Good luck to
them!"
