Spam King Lives Large off Others' E-Mail Troubles http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/11/25/0324221

An anonymous reader writes "Those who are fighting spam will tell you     that one of the most notorious spammers out there is Alan Ralsky. Well,     the Detroit Free Press has a very interesting [0]article on him. This     guy is about as unrepentant as they come, and he's saying he wants to     branch out into delivering pop-up spam via the Windows Messanging     service present on most Windows boxes. If you sysadmins out there have     been wavering about whether to block spam-friendly networks, read this     article, then go to [1]The Spamhaus Project and [2]SPEWS and start     getting IP ranges to block."

[0]Spock the Baptist writes "[1]You can read about an article entitled:
"Telescope to challenge moon doubters" in the online edition of Sydney     Morning Herald. The SMH reports that, "European scientists are to use     the world's newest and largest telescope to see whether the spacecraft     are still on the lunar surface." Does anyone really think that this     will change the alleged minds of doubters?" Links

The Darker Side of Computer Recycling
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/11/24/2237230

[0]Makarand writes "We all know that with electronics it is very
difficult to be green. We leave our computer waste in the recyle bin     lest dangerous chemicals like lead and mercury seep into our landfills.     The more dedicated environmentalists make a trip to the local recyling     center where they may be asked around to pay around $15-$30 to recycle     their old PCs. But guess what -- these 'recyclers' merely ship 50-80%     of this stuff overseas. The Mercury News has a report on this [1]ugly     side of the PC industry which merely exports the recycling problems     instead of solving them."

Do People Really Use Their PDAs?
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/11/24/0224251

Can we help you?X

TAL asks: "With Dell entering the market with their new PDA, the PDA     market appears saturated. I work in a high-tech industry and I see more     people carrying their PDAs than actually using them. At the same time,     I see many people actually going back to their paper planners. I've ran     the PDA gauntlet myself and have found that much time is wasted     syncing, charging and reinstalling the software. Have there been any     studies on PDA turnover? I think the PDA has become more of a status     symbol than a useful tool."

RIAA, MPAA Instigate U.S. Naval Academy Raid http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/11/24/2010223

A Losing Bet: the Last Days of Comdex, Part 1 http://linux.com/article.pl?sid=02/11/24/1211212
