Osirusoft Blacklists The World
ariehk writes "As of today, [0]Osirusoft, distributer of the SPEWS and
open relay blocklists, among others, is [1] no longer operational.
Servers using these lists (including the [2]FTC) are currently
rejecting ALL email. This shutdown seems to be in response to a
several-week-long DDoS attack on Osirusoft, SPEWS and others, resulting
in both sites being down. This has caused [3] much discussion on
n.a.n-a.e, including the suggestion that the attack is somehow related
to the SoBig worm. The spammers must be hurting if they can devote
these kinds of resources to attacking blocklists." Read on below a

According to the poll, "...26 percent of game players are women 18 or older, while 21 percent are boys 6 to 17", and the survey also revealed that "...the average gamer spends 6.5 hours a week playing games... while boys 6 to 17 average 7.3 hours per week of game time." Explicit games are also on the increase, as "13.2 percent carried a "Mature" or "M" rating, up from 9.9 percent in 2001 and under 8 percent in 2000." GTK+ TTY Port
An anonymous reader writes: "[0]FootNotes is [1]reporting about what
might be the coolest thing since [2]textmode Quake: a curses-based
GTK-2.0 port called [3]Cursed GTK. This not only makes it possible to
give Gnome the look and feel of [4]Contiki, but also brings many real
opportunities, such as remote logins where X forwarding is not
possible, or remote logins over very slow modem lines. Screenshots

SCO's Linux case gets weirder
The more cynical among us may suggest that SCO's goal is to increase its stock price.
Columbitech Adds Linux Client

Metagence is claiming its port to be the first of Linux to a multi-threaded processor architecture.
SCO: to pay or not to pay
SCO has started invoicing Linux users that it claims are illegally using copied Unix code. Virus Storm, SCO/IBM/Linux and The BBC, US Style http://linux.com/article.pl?sid=03/08/26/1659223 Companies across the world are reporting what is probably the worst virus outbreak ever, due to the SOBIG virus, which has struck just as the virus Blaster was waning. SOBIG has been around for 6 months, but it has been "mutating". Mutating is, of course a metaphor. What appears to happen is that the virus writing community is a happy to take an existing virus and add something and this is what happened with SOBIG, making it more virulent than ... DotGNU Coding Competition - $4500 in prizes http://linux.com/article.pl?sid=03/08/26/1633251 Norbert Bollow writes "The DotGNU project is holding an international competition in the area of collaboratively implementing the System.Windows.Forms namespace of the C# class libraries. Besides the chance of winning one of fifteen monetary prizes totalling US$ 4500, participants get the good feeling of having contributed to setting the IT world free from the dominion of a certain monopolistic company. The full anouncement is here."

Workrave is a free program that assists in the recovery and prevention of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). So now there finally is a competitive alternative to the multitude of proprietary RSI tools in use by various companies. Please spread the word amongst your colleagues..."
