HUH??? WHAT???? 8-)

Silent, no. Excessive noise? No. Standard PS fan (which was probably overkill -- I've seen much higher-power draw systems with much smaller power supplies), quieter than standard HD, smaller and seemingly fairly quiet processor fan. No other case fan, no other effort to quiet it. Another variant of this main board has NO processor fan, I've saw some reviews where people speculated about replacing the existing (small) heat sink with a massive one and skipping the fan. Considering how cool OpenBSD typically runs the system, _might_ very well work fine for many apps just removing the existing fan.

But then, it was sitting on the same rack with my SS20 (just plain loud), my Netfinity 3000 (at least three case fans, and a 10k and a 7200rpm SCSI drives), and usually a few other computers running. I may not be the best judge, but I do believe it was on the quiet side of average.

I live in a server house. 8-/
Did a scan of my house recently, 18 computers responded... and not all of them have an IP stack...not all of them are on the same subnet...and less than half were even powered up. Sick.

Power outages are spooky. I just walk around, from room to room, and listen to nothing... 8)

Do you need help?X

I've been going for space (and power consumption) more than noise, but yes, I can relate...

Nick.
