Wow!

I gotta admit, I'm once again impressed.

Yesterday I did some houscleaning. Among other things, I moved an 80 Gbyte disk from a workstation to a server and put an older 30 Gbyte disk in the workstation.

The BIOS in the server hanged on boot when the new drive was plugged in. I tried all sorts of things, changing master and slave settings, channel, cable--the usual. Eventually, I just disabled it in the BIOS to see if OpenBSD (3.2) would have any better luck. I should have done that first--it works like a charm.

The workstation got the latest snapshot. Not even a hint of a problem. All the a.out/elf and propolice and everything else is completely invisible, as it should be. Even better: there's now a package for Mozilla! And FXTV no longer requires that one dependency to be installed manually, which was always a hassle. Things Just Work.

I should be used to this by now, but I really don't mind being pleasantly surprised every time I experiment with OpenBSD.

Cheers,

b&
