That dude was on crack and someone should have him pee in a bottle! As long as you don't move LSI based RAID to Adaptec based RAID and vice versa you are good. The LSI based cards (used to be AMI) can move RAID sets between old and new RAID cards. The same goes for Adaptec although they use container code instead. On LSI cards one can even clear the configuration and recreate all RAID sets as long as one knew the previous values. I used to do this all the time before they supported random LUN deletion.
