>Description:
My workstation MY wants to route packets to one specific host MSP via
a router SLOW (Linux) and other packets to the local net and other
packets via a router FAST (Linux).
SLOW uses a NAT-IP A that authenticates him at the POP3 and SMTP host
of our mail service provider. The connection is often down and it takes
up to 15 seconds to bring it up.
FAST cannot use NAT-IP A but NAT-IP UNPRIV. Is nearly always up due to
ntpd. :)
After some time MY changes the route for dest MSP
(a) so that router FAST routes that connection with the
non-priviledged UNPRIV
(b) so that the MSP refuses our connection attempts which makes
our office assistant rather angry... :-) *sniff*
>How-To-Repeat:
1. enter:
> route add MSP SLOW
2. the command
> route show
shows
[...]
Internet:
Destination Gateway Flags
default cerberos.local.med UG
127.0.0.0 localhost UG
localhost.local. localhost UH
MSP cordoba.local.medi UGH
195.243.73.0 link#1 U
cordoba.local.me 0:0:1c:b5:a1:df UH
gargano.local.me localhost UGH
cerberos.local.m 0:60:8:a9:b7:4d UH
BASE-ADDRESS.MCA localhost U
[...]
3. wait some hours
4. the command
> route show
shows a route change without my interaction and without
routed/gated influence
>Fix:
my workaround:
I added a route on FAST to SLOW for host MSP.
