>Description:
Imagine you have a lot of software installed via the ports-collection. You'll need to keep track of actual security-announces concerning all of your installed packages. This is a lot of work and sometimes impossible. The binary-distribution-systems like GNU/Linux (Debian) provides an security-update-server which has security-fixes for their packages. The update-tool automatically fetches all the relevant patches for the _installed_ software. It would be nice to have a tool (or command) which updates the portstree and afterwards does a complete rebuild (including the right flavors) of all installed packages. Or to express it in a simple pseudo-code-fragment: for i in $(pkg_info) ; do make update "$i" ; done
>How-To-Repeat:
Install a lot of software and watch out for any bug appearing in one of the packages.
>Fix:
A possible solution might be described by Thorsten Glaser in Pine.BSO.4.44.0210121805330.14818-100000@odem.BOFH.gott.cx
