Sounds like you have an "ls" directory in /sbin or /usr/sbin tat is messing things up. I'll change the PATH for /etc/security to include /bin and /usr/sbin before /sbin and /usr/sbin since that is what the other cron scripts use but you might want to take a look at why you have an ls dir.
