Well, I had a sendmail with milters (miltrassassin) running on an i486 OpenBSD 2.9 system for about 4 months without the slightest trouble. The sendmail was compiled from sendmail.org sources.

Then I unfortunately upgraded to 3.2 and ran into the same problems as described in the original bug report (with my own newly compiled sendmail stuff, again).

I will try to set up some test box and see what happens with -current, but not this week...
