Hello!

I'm a newbie in the world of BSD, I'm using Linux for about 4 years.

A couple of days ago I downloaded from a mirror of ftp.openbsd.org the OpenBSD/3.3/i386/ directory. From the file floppy33.fs I created a boot floppy and I installed the OS. Everything went just fine, until I had to reboot my PC in order to start OpenBSD 3.3.

My boot manager is grub-0.93, and my screen looks like this:

grub> root (hd0,2,a)
Filesystem type is ffs, partition type 0xa6

grub> kernel /bsd
  [NetBSD-a.out, loadaddr=0x100000, text=0x3ee000, C, data=0x1e000, bss=0xc95a0, symtab=0x243cc, strtab=0x2dd9b, entry=0x100020]

grub> boot
panic: /boot too old: upgrade!

I tried some alternative boot methods, including lilo, but I got the ``Bad magic'' message.

I have to tell that my machine is a Pentium III (Katmai)/450MHz, 384MB RAM with a 40GB IDE HDD. On my hard disk lie 3 OSes: Windoze XP, Debian GNU/Linux and OpenBSD 3.3.

Linux fdisk output looks like this:

Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 4998 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System

/dev/hda12 4648 4998 2819376 b Win95 FAT32

So, I installed OpenBSD on the 3rd primary partition on my hard disk.

OpenBSD fdisk output looks like this:

Disk: wd0 geometry: 4998/255/63 [80292870 sectors] Offset: 0 Signature: 0xAA55

and mount points are:

wd0a /
wd0d /tmp
wd0e /var
wd0g /usr
wd0h /home

So why can't my system boot OpenBSD? The kernel file (bsd) is the one I downloaded from ftp. I double checked with md5sum all the files I downloaded and they are fine, I followed the installations steps, and I can say that my installation is quite ``standard''.

I will appreciate if you would help me.

Thank you,
