PRO/1000MT (PWLA8390MT) Open BSD-3.3>
>Severity: <non-critical>
System : OpenBSD 3.3
Architecture: OpenBSD.i386
Machine : i386
>Description:
computer with 3 network cards one 3-com and two Intel PRO/1000MT
(PWLA8390MT). My problem is that i cant get the intel cards to work against
our gigabit switches. I have tried against two different types of gigabit
switches, 3-com 3c16477 baseline gigabit switch and one HP procurve switch
2724 j4897.
Accordingly to ifconfig the intel adapter is up. but i can´t for example
ping to another machine. If i move cable connectet to intel card, to a 100
Mb 3-com switch it comms up with 100 Mb tx full-dublex and it works to ping
to another machine.
If i have bridge enabled with spanning-tree between the two intel cards and
try tcpdump -i em0 i se spanning-tree bridge annonsement on the intel
interface atached to gigabit switch but no other trafic.
I have tried this configuration to another machine to ( a never one with the
same result)
One or two times then i have run tcpdump -i em0 tcpdump reports that em0 is
not up but ifconfig says so. In that case i have run ifconfig em0 up and
then tcpdumd doesen´t complain.
I dont know what to do, I am not a skilled bsd user so it might be myself
who is the problem.
As attachement dmesg, hostname.xx and brconfig config files.
Ps on another machine(brand, processor mm) but i386 ( not managed by me )
running openbsd3.2 above configuration works...( same intel cards ) Ds
