system hangs during start

hello!

i built a openbsd3.2 nat with two nic's (two realtek 8029 pci). i gave both card's an ip-address.
for a few hours it worked great.
later i changed the ip on ne4 by editing /etc/hostname.ne4. after a reboot hangs the system for 5mins at "preserving editor files". when i revome the ne4-interface starts the system clean.

made i a mistake?
