Problems and solutions for Tomcat 4.0.6

I've been developing applications on Tomcat on OpenBSD 3.2. Perhaps this might be appropriate for the FAQ? I didn't want to crosspost to the ports mailing list, but I'll report these issues there if it is appropriate.

Problem: Tomcat 4.0.6 package doesn't build (as of last week when I tried): It requires the jdk1.2-linux package, which cannot be assembled without downloading jdk1.2.04.bin from Sun. Apparently there is some redistribution issue? (I saw jdk1.2 on ports-current in CVS, does that resolve this?)

Solution: Build from ports.

Problem: When using a JDBC driver to connect to an MS SQL database, access fails with "Cannot create static cursor cache" for mssqlserver.jar, or "Row access denied" for other JDBC databases.

Solution: The port/package does not create a /var/tomcat/temp directory. Create /var/tomcat/temp with write permissions for the account Tomcat is running under.

Question: Is there a way to build/run Tomcat on OpenBSD 3.2 with JDK1.3 or 1.4? (The most current jdk in ports is 1.2.2).

Thanks,
