Setting max_thread_proc ?

Hello all,

I'm trying to find/set the parameter max_thread_proc to enable a Java application on OpenBSD 3.2-stable to run better. A developer quoted HP-UX documentation (which I think has zero relevance, but I'm just checking).

I've read the FAQ, especially sections 8, 11, and 12 with no results.

I've read Philipp and Henning's "Running and tuning OpenBSD in a production environment", which was very informative. It gives me some other ideas of things to do.

I read man 4 options and man 8 config, but no mention of this.

Googling for openbsd max_thread_proc only returns 2 hits about CommunicatePro software, which talks about installing OpenBSD and then, underneath it, setting max_threads_proc to 128 or more on HP-UX

Searching the misc archives at
http://www.sigmasoft.com/cgi-bin/wilma/openbsd-misc for max_thread_proc returns 0 hits.

Browsing /usr/src/sys/arch/i386/config/GENERIC makes no mention of this paramter.

Do you need help?X

Reading the manpage for config does not mention this parameter.

Where should I be looking?

Side note: the developer also wants me to changes max users to 768, which I do see in GENERIC as set to 32, but I don't think this has any bearing on getting Java to run faster. I'd rather do the tweaks in Philipp and Henning's paper first. Am I wrong?

Thanks,
