linux-emulation-free java?

Hello,

I was just wondering if there would ever be a java machine that didn't require heavy linux emulation?

I'm trying to run openoffice (ok there's no port for openbsd) and it needs java, when I had installed java (a sickly process!) I was wondering if anyone was working on a linux-free java machine?

Why does the java need emulation anyway? Is there anything I could do to help?

Also, I've noticed there's a fair few packages which haven't been ported, lying in netbsd - are the differences too great to allow building netbsd sources?

Thanks,

Poff
