Hi!

I believe your problem has nothing to do with OpenBSD. =)

Let's see what the name service says.

Name: yahoo.com
Addresses: 64.58.79.230, 66.218.71.198

Name: www.yahoo.akadns.net
Addresses: 64.58.76.176, 64.58.76.177, 64.58.76.178, 64.58.76.179

          64.58.76.222, 64.58.76.223, 64.58.76.226, 64.58.76.227, 64.58.76.228
          64.58.76.229, 64.58.76.230, 64.58.76.231
Aliases: www.yahoo.com

So, as you can see, there are quite a few servers behind the name www.yahoo.com, and two behind yahoo.com. This means that if you ping www.yahoo.com, you may actually ping *any* of the IP-addresses mentioned above, resulting in random results depending on which server(s) happen to be down:

PING www.yahoo.akadns.net (64.58.76.178): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 64.58.76.178: icmp_seq=0 ttl=239 time=114.561 ms

Do you need help?X

PING www.yahoo.akadns.net (64.58.76.228): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 64.58.76.228: icmp_seq=0 ttl=239 time=119.726 ms

PING www.yahoo.akadns.net (64.58.76.230): 56 data bytes --- 64.58.76.230 ping statistics ---
6 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
