Then I am able to eject the CD, which means to me that it's not booting the kernel.

Now this is a serial console, so I am wondering if I need to create a custom kernel to boot from or what else I could try to get this to work. As I would rather use OpenBSD and PF.

Another guy and my self have been playing with this off and on for about 3 weeks. We did an install on another box, moved the drive over and never got the console output, left it for awhile then came back powered it off and moved it back, the file systems were clean, so it never mounted the disks...

Do you need help?X

FreeBSD 4.7 boots/installs/runs just great on this. (infact the installer asks if your TERM is "ASCII", "VT100", etc.)

FreeBSDs output for the serial ports.
sio0 at port 0x3f8-0x3ff irq 4 flags 0x10 on isa0 sio0: type 16550A, console
sio1 at port 0x2f8-0x2ff irq 3 on isa0
sio1: type 16550A

Let me know, as we have been racking our brain to get this to just boot an OpenBSD kernel.
