In bind 4 jargon slaves are secondaries. For instance, if you want to slave bestfriend.com you might do this:

; Secondaries
;
; type     domain           src host         backup file
; ----     ------           --------         -----------

secondary bestfriend.com XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX bestfriend.com
