That's probably correct, but then it depends on your threat scenario if it's really a helpful solution... If you're concerned about someone breaking into your computer and mangling with your data, copying to an (attached) disc drive won't do much good - you need some proper archiving solution for that. Or, as it happened to a colleague of mine some week ago - his power supply exploded and fried _everything_ in the system, including all his disc drives, backup or not. If the cost of tape drives (and tape media) is prohibitive, it might be worth looking at a solution using an CD or DVD burner, depending on the volume of your backup data. If you can afford tapes - we have good experience with AIT hardware (even if it's helical scan stuff, it's a lot better and more stable than DAT), and I have heard positive comments about Tandberg SLR drives. > >On Wed, 26 Mar 2003, Rick Barter wrote:
