Yup. I had some version of Linux running on IBM PS/2s with 386SX or 386SLC processors and 8MB RAM. (Linux mostly because nobody else bothers to support MCA). X was.. well, painful, but otherwise it worked fine just to have a machine to use as a terminal. What this has to to with the rl driver I know not. Oh yeah, the rl sucks so much you might as well have a 3c501 (or thinking to those IBMs, a WD8005) in a 386. The scary thing is I know I have two mostly working 386s sitting at home.. one of them is fully decked with 8MB of SIPPs and a 21MB MFM hard disk. The other one is more interesting since I built it out of a wrecked Compaq luggable and an IBM portable. That actually has a 300MB SCSI drive in it. (hot damn!) I'll have to put a more supported SCSI card in that beast and give Open a shot on there... err, maybe later. It might be funt to try to squeeze it into 21MB on that other machine but I know it's just asking fro trouble. ;) -- #!/jameel/akari sleep 4800; make clean && make breakfastReceived on Mon Apr 7 21:49:49 2003 This archive was generated by hypermail 2.1.8 : Wed Aug 23 2006 - 13:34:02 EDT |
