Ouch, I've panicked and sent that mail too quickly.

You're right - my father's Outlook has been dropping connections to sendmail after the RCPT TO command.

Some newsgroup messages pointed it could happen if mail addresses would contain funny chars, but in my case the "traffic jam" had been caused by the e-mail to a user@novograd.com.ua - probably because that host wouldn't resolve? But this actually belongs to news:comp.mail.sendmail , sorry...

Upgrading sendmail has been actually easy and quick.
