postgresql 7.3 - port attached - PLEASE test

Attached is my work-in-progress port of PostgreSQL 7.3, which was released last week.

I would like to get this version of the port in the tree, and as people contribute support for extensions etc. they can be added, but we are so far behind (all my fault) that it would be best to get the basic port updated.

Since the last version in the tree (7.1.3) there have been a number of changes in the PostgreSQL distribution.

Various FLAVORs have been removed completely or made the default.

I do not have the additional resources to test on anything but i386 and I do not use any of the additional options that may be best implemented as FLAVORs.

The attached post unpacks into a postgresql-7.3 directory, but I am NOT proposing that this is a new port - this is just for convenience of testing.

If you have time to test, please note that ANY previous installations will need to be pg_dump'ed and pg_restore'ed. PLEASE do not try this on a live database until you have satisfied yourself that this version is stable FOR YOU. Please also note the comments in the Makefile about regression testing. The port passes all the tests, but only after tuning of limits etc. manually, so the regression tests cannot be tun automatically.

More information about the changes in 7.3 can be seen at http://advocacy.postgresql.org/changes/73/

Do you need help?X
