Thanks, but knowing that there's a port made all the difference in building. I grabbed all the configure options out of the 1.5.3.1 port's Makefile (0) & built 1.5.5 successfully. The 30-year problem is solved on this installation.

Alas, there's a new problem: I can no longer see it in the Chooser. Clicking the "Server IP Address" button allows me to connect, the /storage partition is properly exported as "Server", I can copy & edit files from my TiBook, it just doesn't show up in the Chooser. A quick Google search implies that explicitly telling netatalk to use nge0 might work, but that's my only interface so AFAIK it should just work. There are no zones on the network.
