I also found glimmer dumps to core whenever I have Gnome2 installed in my system. Please see http://glimmer.sf.net/requirements.php3 for details why glimmer might not working on Gnome2 environment.  

The author has been contacted, and still waiting for his response. Hopefully the author will release the glimmer version for Gnome2. :-)

Anyway, Gnome2 stuffs are not intergrated in our ports tree yet. I see this is a future problem. Maybe I will mark it BROKEN or will give such a warning that glimmer only can run on Gnome1 environment.
