Call for testers: packages snapshots

We have been making new packages snapshots for various architectures continously. The stuff up now is built with propolice, which as most of you are probably aware is now part of OpenBSD-current. For those who don't know what propolice is:

http://www.trl.ibm.com/projects/security/ssp

Some ports currently do not build on a number of architectures other than i386 because of gcc/propolice bugs which are being sorted out, but the main issue we have is actually _running_ the packages that are produced, because that is the only way to run into eventual problems. It is important that the community helps here, since the number of packages is huge, and discovering the problems that surely lurk is important!

When a flaw in the code results into stack corruption at runtime, the program will abort rather than continuing to run with possible bad consequences. When you run into such a case, PLEASE report it, so that we can examine it and fix it. It MIGHT not be a bug in the application, but instead a bug in propolice, in which case the protection may have to be disabled while the problems are sorted. In any case though, you need to let us know!!

To state the obvious just in case, you need reasonably -current system in order to use those packages (libc.so.29.0).

Help us towards being able to ship the next release with this kick-ass feature! Received on Sun Jan 5 18:15:02 2003
