thank you for your help.

In the meantime I found (thanks Peter Strömberg [wilfried@spamcop.net]!!) that my

#ldd /usr/local/libdata/perl5/site_perl/i386-openbsd/auto/GD/GD.so /usr/local/libdata/perl5/site_perl/i386-openbsd/auto/GD/GD.so:

-lgd.18 => ? (?)
-lpng.3 => ? (?)
-lz.1 => ? (?)
-lfreetype.8 => ? (?)
-ljpeg.62 => ? (?)
-lm.0 => ? (?)

A install from source seems to not have that dependency, Peter told me.

Dropping in that library from xbase.tgz is a workaround but then I get that _gdfree issue.
I'm getting the ports snapshot from tonight in order to rebuild, I'll report if that works correctly.
