True, but null mounts work quite nicely for this purpose. I'm a fan of things installing in LOCALBASE, but I can patch my ports tree to get this behavior quite easily if installing in /var/www is what is decided upon.

odin@bobafett:p0[~]$ mount|grep null

/usr/local/libdata/perl5 on /var/www/usr/local/libdata/perl5 type null (local, read-only)
/usr/libdata/perl5 on /var/www/usr/libdata/perl5 type null (local, read-only)
/usr/home/odin/public_html on /var/www/users/odin type null (local, read-only)
/usr/home/jdew/public_html on /var/www/users/jdew type null (local, read-only)
