-lpthread

I know there was a change to a new libpthread (http://www.openbsd.org/faq/upgrade-minifaq.html#3.2.7). I'm working on making clamav work again on 3.3. There was some breakage somewhere between 3.1 and current due to -lc_r being used. I removed it (and was left with -pthread) and got errors:
"Undefined symbol `_pthread_mutex_"...yada, yada, yada

So I tried -lpthread and all seems right.

I read this, which I think is in relation to my question... http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/openbsd/cvs/2002-11/0103.html

Is there any reason why to avoid -lpthread?

Thanks,
Flinn
