is really clamav in ${PREFIX}/share/clamav

Need to fix Makefile - post-install section && PLIST.

pkg/INSTALL
create clamd log file in /var/log and chown to _clamd

Patch
clamav.conf file to reflect the following before installing.

LogFile /var/log/clamd.log

# Path to a directory containing .db files.
# Default is the hardcoded directory (mostly /usr/local/share/clamav,
# it depends on installation options).

DataDirectory /usr/local/share/clamav

# Run as selected user (clamd must be started by root). # By default it doesn't drop privileges. User _clamd

Should we create the local socket some where secure in the install and patch config accordingly?

# Path to the local socket. The daemon doesn't change the mode of the # created file (portability reasons). You may want to create it in a directory
# which is only accessible for a user running daemon. LocalSocket /tmp/clamd

I'm just about to run some scans so I'll let you know how that goes.
