JDK 1.3-linux display problem

After reading that the jdk 1.3-linux port worked under -current, I uprgraded using a fresh snapshot (Jul 5 base, Jul 11 x11). (The efforts to make this run have been appreciated!) After installing the Redhat 8.0 emulation, Opera 7.x from ports, and the problem java applications (in this case Cgoban2), I can reproduce like this:
o run x11
At this point, most (excepting the first) cgoban2 displays load containing large grey areas that ``cover'' parts of the application. The workaround has been simple, I just run and lightly use cgoban2 before opera, leaving cgoban2 running until I want to use it. I had always thought this a memory problem. So, I have ran java with the -Xms argument, and tried the other VMs (none work except ``classic''), and made sure my ulimit was high enough: time(cpu-seconds) unlimited file(blocks) unlimited coredump(blocks) unlimited data(kbytes) 1048576 stack(kbytes) 16384 lockedmem(kbytes) 322289 memory(kbytes) 965828 nofiles(descriptors) 128 processes 532
This is a machine with 1GB of RAM doing nothing else.
cgoban2 is not the only java app that does this, any that
I have tried do, that have a display.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Brian P.S. Please CC me, I am not subscribed to the list. Received on Sun Jul 13 21:43:18 2003 This archive was generated by hypermail 2.1.8 : Wed Aug 23 2006 - 13:45:03 EDT |
